Virtual Camps Now in Session!
Feel the magic of Camp from your living room.
In this time of physical distance, it is important now, more than ever, for children with special needs to have a Camp-like experience. One that challenges them to step out of their comfort zone, explore their creativity and interact with friends they look forward to seeing all year long.
Every week throughout the months of June and July, new and returning campers receive the magic of Camp Aldersgate delivered to their doors. One box including activities to last the entire summer, and another (mailed out the week before a camper’s session) packed with items specific to their week-long camp.
Sessions are brought to the living room via “Blue Jeans,” an online meeting platform similar to Zoom. Without giving too much information (we don’t want to spoil any of the surprises for our campers!), expect some activities similar to our traditional ones – a talent show, closing ceremony, campfire & s’mores, etc. Also expect activities that are original, innovative and exclusive to Camp Aldersgate programming!
And of course, it wouldn’t be Camp without KBAR (Kick Back & Relax)! Each ‘cabin’ is the virtual room of fellow campers and volunteers on a small-group level. Will they want to catch up with their pals? You bet! Make friendship bracelets? It’s tradition! KBAR is where special moments are made, creating friendships to last a lifetime.
We want to give a huge thanks to everyone who has made this summer possible – from our ever-loyal camper families, to the counselor staff serving their time as volunteers. We couldn’t do it without each and every one of you!
Due to cancelations of on-site events and making sure Virtual Summer Camp remained free to all camper families, we would like to ask that you consider making a financial gift to Camp during this time. Your donation will help ensure our ability to continue serving children with special needs for many summers to come.
Stay with us on social media as we share some of the highlights of our virtual sessions and pictures of our campers participating from home!
