Lord Colin Glenconner purchased a small island in the Grenadines in 1958 for $120,000 with the intentions of farming. There were no roads, no natural water, no electricity, but there was sun, sand and privacy. In the 1960s, after discovering the oasis the island provided, Lord Glenconner formed the Mustique Company to develop the island into a private island of villas – a place where guests could rest during the day and experience his extravagant parties after dark. One of the most famous residents visiting Mustique was Princess Margaret. Lord and Lady Glenconner gifted the princess 10 acres on the island and built her a home known as Les Joules Eaux. Princess Margaret held deep affection for the island that provided her an escape from her day-to-day life. It gave her freedom and a place to be herself.

Today, Camp Aldersgate provides the same type of adventure and respite to individuals with special needs. Each year our campers and their families look forward to their escape from day-to-day life and the opportunity to enjoy our oasis in Little Rock.
