For the second year in a row, Cathy Engelkes is serving as our Fish Fry Event Chair! We are thankful for her leadership and dedication as we celebrate 40 YEARS of Fish Fry! Take a look at her answers below to get to know her and what she loves about Camp Aldersgate and Fish Fry…
1. How did you first get involved with Camp Aldersgate?
I was one of the leaders of a small group who selected Camp Aldersgate as our charity of choice 20 years ago. We created our own private, annual event raising more than $400,000 over 14 years for kids with cancer to attend camp. I’ve also served on the board of directors as a member and president, and today I continue to volunteer.
2. What can people look forward to this year at Fish Fry?
Seeing the campus, enjoying fun activities for all, and having great food, of course!
3. What has been the most rewarding part of being the event chair for Fish Fry?
I am honored to chair this event for the second time and especially so in our 40th year. Helping share the impact of Camp Aldersgate within our community is so important and knowing the financial impact this event can have for our campers is what inspires me!
4. What is the best part of Fish Fry?
The energy and love you will feel the minute you step on campus will touch your soul. The fish is just a bonus!
5. Describe what Camp Aldersgate’s mission means to you.
Knowing that I can play a small part in creating life-changing experiences for individuals with special needs fills my heart with joy and love.
