Fish Fry Returns for 41st Year at Camp Aldersgate
Family-friendly event to offer delicious food and fun activities
Camp Aldersgate is excited to announce its 41st Annual Fish Fry, happening Sunday, Oct. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will take place at Camp Aldersgate’s scenic campus, with a drive-thru option available just up the road at CHI St. Vincent.
A beloved community tradition, the Fish Fry offers family-friendly fun with carousel rides, a children’s fishing derby, arts and crafts and other exciting activities. Guests are invited to explore Camp Aldersgate from the perspective of its campers while enjoying a delicious fried fish plate that includes hushpuppies, coleslaw, and french fries.
This year’s event chairs, Ashley and Jason Parker, say that Fish Fry is the perfect opportunity for people to learn more about Aldersgate’s mission.
“It is great to get new people on the property and for them to get a glimpse of what camp is like for our campers. Many are not aware of what all is going on at Camp Aldersgate, and the Fish Fry is a great way to expose them to all we have to offer,” said Ashley Parker.
Each year, Camp Aldersgate honors a “Fish Fry Family,” a special family whose involvement with the camp has left a lasting impression. This year, Aldersgate is proud to recognize Zenobia Brown and her two sons, Zakameron and Zay-lon, as the 2024 Fish Fry Family. Both boys have autism, and Camp Aldersgate has played a vital role in their lives by fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment.
“They didn’t make my children feel different…Everybody is somebody at Camp Aldersgate, and I appreciate that,” said Zenobia Brown.
Individual tickets for the Fish Fry are $20, and Family Packs for Four (4) are available for $65. Kids six years old and under eat free. Each ticket includes a fried fish plate and access to all the fun activities on-site. All proceeds support the mission of Camp Aldersgate, which is to create life-changing opportunities for individuals with special needs.
