Adult Campers Experience Aldersgate in Northwest Arkansas
During the first weekend of November, Camp Aldersgate hosted its first off-site retreat for adults with special needs in Northwest Arkansas. Participants stayed at Mount Sequoyah, located in Fayetteville, from November 3-5.
The weekend kicked off on Friday night with s’mores over the campfire! It was a great time for everyone to bond and build comradery. Saturday was packed with group activities, starting with a competitive game of Tenzi and bean bag baseball. After warming up with some friendly competition, we cheered on the Arkansas Razorbacks during our lunch tailgating party.
During the afternoon, participants played lawn games including ladder ball, disc golf and backyard bass. Oversized kickball was a crowd favorite – even the nurses got in on the action!

At sunset, the group enjoyed the view at Mount Sequoyah’s famous overlook. It was the perfect spot to take in nature’s beauty and see a bird’s eye view of Fayetteville.
We concluded the evening with karaoke and a dance party! Everyone had fun letting loose and showing off their singing and dance skills. On Sunday morning, participants enjoyed eating breakfast together and playing a few games before packing up to go home.
This unforgettable weekend allowed adults with special needs to connect with their peers and experience the outdoors. Participants were able to build community and experience a unique getaway with Camp Aldersgate programming.
