Summer Camp 2022
“Thank you for everything! Every summer you give Willa the chance to do all the things, and it means so much to our family!” – Beth, Camper Parent.
It is hard to believe that this summer season has come to an end! It is always one of our campers’ favorite times of the year. There is something special about spending your nights in a cabin, canoeing in a cool lake on a hot summer day and singing camp songs before you take the leap of faith on the zip-line.
One of the unique things about Camp Aldersgate is that we offer adaptable, accessible and individualized curriculum without relinquishing the ‘traditional’ aspects of camp – adventure, exploration and fun. Campers enjoy all the exciting aspects of summer camp because we believe everyone deserves the chance to experience the magic of camp.
A typical day starts with breakfast in the Commons. Everyone is getting excited about what two activities their cabin will embark upon for the morning, whether it is archery, fishing, nature, ziplining, sports, art, canoeing or crafts. After morning activities, it’s time for lunch and KBAR (Kick Back And Relax) time. During KBAR, campers get a break from the sun and have time to hang out with their cabin and take a breather.
The rest of the afternoon consists of more activities and pool time! The fun doesn’t stop once the sun goes down, though. After dinner time, there is a different evening activity each night. From “Color Wars” and game night to the talent show and camp dance, each night is filled with camaraderie and some friendly competition.
As you can see, our Summer Camp weeks are packed with fun! Most of the weeks during the summer focus on a specific medical diagnosis or special need such as Muscular Dystrophy, Diabetes and Spina Bifida. (See our complete list of camps here.) Our Kota Camps cater to a broader group of campers and serve other diagnoses such as autism. Campers are also encouraged to bring a sibling or friend along to Kota Camp.
We could not provide these life-changing opportunities for our campers without the support of our medical advisory board, Camp Aldersgate Board of Directors, health agencies, medical team, counselors, volunteers, donors and community. Thank you to all who helped make this summer possible!
