Camp Aldersgate to establish the Dr. Charles Minor Taylor Memorial Endowment Fund
LITTLE ROCK (January 9, 2019) – Camp Aldersgate, Inc. today announced the establishment of the Dr. Charles Minor Taylor Memorial Endowment Fund, which will enhance and support the programs of Camp Aldersgate.
The grant given by The Charles M. and Joan R. Taylor Foundation is in honor of the life and work of Dr. Charles Minor Taylor. This permanent tribute will allow for increased long-term stability and program expansion for all served by Camp Aldersgate.
Dr. Charles Minor Taylor (1832-1895) dedicated his life to medicine. Dr. Taylor was appointed by President James Buchanan to the command of the Marine Hospital at Napoleon, Arkansas. During the Civil War, he served as Surgeon General of the Trans-Mississippi Department. Following the war, he pursued his medical practice in Little Rock. He is remembered as a distinguished gentleman, a respected surgeon, an enterprising businessman, an influential citizen, and a loyal friend.
Camp Aldersgate creates life-changing experiences for individuals with special needs, enabling them to expand their worlds and express their unique voices. In 2019, Camp provided services to over 400 individuals representing 55 counties in Arkansas and seven states.
