Annual Fish Fry Changes Course to Drive-Thru Only

Camp Aldersgate puts a spin on curbside pick-up

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (October 15, 2020) – Arkansans will once again have the chance to satisfy their cool-weather cravings at Camp Aldersgate’s annual Fish Fry, despite the constraints of COVID-19, on Sunday, November 8.

While attendees have always looked forward to the cakewalks and carousel rides, this year will be the first that Camp Aldersgate will provide drive-thru only services. The annual event will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.at Camp Aldersgate. In traditional Fish Fry fashion, each ticket will include a delicious fried fish meal box with all the fixins’.

As a nonprofit committed to serving children with special needs, many who are considered at high-risk and/or immunocompromised, the Camp Aldersgate team recognized early on that traditional Fish Fry festivities would cease to exist in the midst of a pandemic. However, through much deliberation and teamwork efforts to ensure the safety of this event was the primary focus, the change was made to host Drive-Thru Fish Fry.

Attendees won’t have to get out of their car when picking up their meals, complying with physical distancing guidelines. Single tickets or family packs of four (4) meals can be purchased either online at drivethrufishfry2020.eventbrite.com or by calling the Camp Aldersgate office at (501) 255-1444. Attendees may also purchase tickets in the drive-thru on the day of the event at Camp Aldersgate (2000 Aldersgate Road) for $15 and a rapid pick-up location will be available at OrthoArkansas (10301 Kanis Road).

Of course, it wouldn’t be Fish Fry without adding a little bit of Camp Aldersgate flare. Drive-thru attendees can expect a lively atmosphere with music, friendly faces and exciting performances such as Justin Time Entertainment. Camp Aldersgate staff hopes the mission to serve children with special needs will be a driving factor that encourages community members to come out and support this year’s event, despite being unable to hold traditional Fish Fry activities.

“Whether on-site or online, Camp Aldersgate brings kids together and gives them the chance to meet others who share similar life experiences,” said Katie Lea, Board of Directors President, “At a time when we have to be apart, that’s important for all kids, but especially those with special needs. Our Fish Fry goal is to ensure that virtual programming continues until our gates can safely reopen to our Camp community”
