Can you tell us a little about your background and what you do professionally?

I was born and raised in Louisiana; I came to Little Rock to pursue my career in healthcare. I serve as Vice President of Patient Care Services at Arkansas Children’s. In my role, I work closely with the Senior Vice President/CNO and executive team to lead and guide clinical operations and strategic goals. I am a resilient high achiever, with uncompromising integrity. I bring 20+ years of leadership to our team, I have a Master of Science in Nursing Administration, am a board-certified Nurse Executive, a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an AONL executive fellowship graduate, and a Leadership of Greater Little Rock Class of XXXIII graduate. I enjoy spending time with my husband, Isaiah Wells Jr., of 25 years, daughter, Abigail Wells, and son, Isaiah Wells III. My life mantra is “I see you. I hear you. You matter.”

How did you first become involved with Camp Aldersgate?

In 2013, I became the Director of the Burn Unit at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and I attended family day for pediatric burn survivors. That was my first encounter with Camp Aldersgate. Then in 2019, my husband and I attended our first Aldersgate After Dark event. I was so impressed with the experience, the people, and the mission. I knew one day I wanted serve and volunteer my time and resources to a place deeply committed to transforming its impact in the community.

Who or what inspires you in your philanthropic efforts?

Growing up, I was profoundly influenced by my lifelong mentor, Connie Jordan, who modeled a strong commitment to community service. She instilled in me the values of empathy and responsibility, showing me firsthand how small acts of kindness can create significant positive change. In addition to my mentor, I am inspired by figures such as Oprah Winfrey, whose innovative approach to building a school in Africa has transformed countless lives. Their ability to leverage resources and mobilize communities around critical issues has greatly influenced my own approach to philanthropy. Although these two ladies are AMAZING, my sole inspiration for why I inhale and exhale is my daughter, Abigail Wells. She is a cancer survivor. The cure to osteosarcoma for my daughter was to have her right leg amputated, and now she navigates through life fueled by her different abilities. These inspirations drive my commitment to supporting initiatives that address different abilities and adaptive sports. I strive to contribute in ways that not only support immediate needs, but also build long-term, sustainable solutions. By integrating the values and strategies I’ve learned from my role models, I aim to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the causes I support.

Why do you believe that Camp Aldersgate’s mission is important?

I believe Camp Aldersgate’s mission is profoundly important for several reasons. At its core, the mission embodies values of inclusivity, personal growth, and community support, which resonate deeply with my own beliefs about the power of communal and individual development. By providing a nurturing environment where individuals can explore their potential and build meaningful connections, Camp Aldersgate creates a space that fosters both personal and collective advancement. The camp’s focus is providing barrier-free experiences for individuals with special needs. This direct experience has underscored the mission’s importance to me. Our services are an essential part of the continuum of care for the quality of life of individuals with special needs and their families and caregivers. These outdoors experiences empower campers by celebrating them, respecting them and engaging them at a place and in activities built just for them. Looking ahead, the camp’s mission plays a crucial role in addressing long-term needs and challenges in our community.

What would you tell someone considering getting involved with Camp Aldersgate?

Camp Aldersgate is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to make a positive impact in their community and connect with others, whether you’re considering volunteering, working, or participating in programs that service children with special needs and different abilities.
